White box or square around your crosshair?
If there's a solid white square or box drawn around your crosshair that you can't get rid of, it's almost always the Windows High Contrast theme interfering with how the overlay renders — not a bug in the crosshair itself.
Turn off High Contrast

Open Windows Settings and go to Accessibility > Contrast themes.

Set the theme to None to disable high contrast mode. The white box should disappear immediately.
Still want a dark Windows look?
If you were using High Contrast just for a darker interface, switch to the regular Dark theme instead under Settings > Personalization > Colors. It gives you the dark look without breaking overlay rendering.
A red cross that never moves?
If instead you see a crosshair (often red) that stays locked in one spot even when you change or move your Crosshair X design, that's usually your monitor's built-in crosshair feature, not the app. Check your monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu for a crosshair/aim-assist option and turn it off there.
