Crosshair X causing FPS drops or stutter?
If your game stutters or your FPS tanks while Crosshair X is running — but everything is smooth again the moment you close it — a couple of common settings are almost always the cause.
1. Enable Hardware Acceleration
This is the single most common fix, especially on AMD GPUs and when using crosshair animations.

Open Crosshair X and go to the Options page.

Enable Hardware Acceleration.

Restart Crosshair X and test your game again.
2. Lower an ultra-high mouse polling rate
If you get severe FPS drops (for example 150 FPS down to 10–15) specifically when flicking or moving the camera fast, your mouse polling rate may be set very high (4000–8000 Hz). That is extremely demanding on the CPU when combined with any overlay. Open your mouse manufacturer's software and set the polling rate to 1000 Hz, then test again.
3. Check your GPU driver settings
If stutter persists after the above, driver-level configuration (particularly on AMD) can conflict with overlay apps. Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date and review any custom global settings you've forced on.
